Notes:  You can set the intervals for sampling packets so that only statistics of sampled packets are collected. The statistics show the flow status on the entire network. The sampling function reduces the impact of NetStream on device performance.

Configuration steps

Configuring interface-based NetStream sampling

  1. Run system-view
  2. Run interface interface-type interface-number [.subinterface-number ]
  3. Run ip netstream sampler fix-packets By default, the packet-based regular sampling is used. The default packet sampling rate is 100.

Configuring NetStream Flow Aging

  1. Run the system-view command to enter the system view.
  2. Run the ip netstream timeout active active-interval command to set the active aging time of IPv4 flows.  Set the active-interval to 1 minute.  By default, the active aging time of IPv4 flows is 30 minutes.
  3. Run the system-view command to enter the system view.
  4. Run the ip netstream timeout inactive inactive-interval command to set the inactive time of IPv4 flows.  Set the inactive-interval to 15 seconds.  By default, the inactive aging time of IPv4 flows is 30 seconds.

Configuring NetStream Settings

  1. Run the system-view command to enter the system view.
  2. Run the ip netstream export version version command to set the version of the exported packets carrying original flow statistics.  V5, V8, V9, and V10 are supported, set the version to V9 or V10.
  3. Run the ip netstream export source ip-address command to configure the source address of the exported packets carrying original flow statistics.
  4. Run the ip netstream export host ip-address port-number [ vpn-instance vpn-instance-name ] command to configure the destination IP address and destination UDP port number of the exported packets carrying original flow statistics.  The export host IP address is the IP address of the Scrutinizer collector.  Depending on the NetStream version you set the port number can vary.  V9 typically uses 2055 while V10 uses 4739, set accordingly.
  5. Run system-view
  6. Run interface interface-type interface-number [.subinterface-number ]
  7. Run ip netstream{ inbound | outbound }

The NetStream function is enabled on the interface to collect statistics about IPv4 flows.

Note: Repeat steps 13 and 14 for every interface that are to collect statistics for NDE.
